I’ve been lucky to call Athens, Georgia home for the past 25 years. As a musician, I was originally drawn here for the music scene and the sense of community Athens emits. Oddly enough, while still in high school, it was on a ride through the Historic Boulevard Neighborhood on the way to play a show that I looked around at all the amazing older homes and thought to myself, “This is it. This is where I’m going to live”.
25 years later, with an amazing wife (Melissa), our two kids (Polly and Sam), two dogs (Coco and Drummer), and a slightly nicer drum kit than the one I had when I first moved to town…here we are!
I’ve been involved in real estate for the past 12 years, and I’ve been fortunate enough to help a great clientele with either moving to Athens for the first time, or passing along the homes they've loved so much to others. It’s a great feeling to have clients turn into friends. To learn about their families, hear their stories and understand where they’re heading-- it's what I enjoy most about this business. I've always looked at work throughout my life as a challenge to do things differently. To add something that others may not. To always go above and beyond what’s expected. To do these things with kindness and respect. This is my hope for every interaction you have with Sound Real Estate.
My interest in real estate started in Greenville, SC, after graduating from Furman University with a degree in accounting. My wife and I began renovating our first home in 2007 to accommodate our growing family. From there, it was an easy transition to starting a business in which my family would undertake several renovation projects a year for clients.
In 2013, after completing another home renovation for my family, we moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where I worked in a residential property management business and also started my own custom cabinet shop. Building custom cabinetry for various clients helped me develop the skills of understanding of what a client wants and delivering a product that meets their needs. I strive to bring that same type of personal service to each of my real estate transactions, today.
In 2018, my wife got a music industry job which brought us to the Athens area, where we purchased a home in Watkinsville. Through this process, I truly got to know the ins and outs of Athens-Clarke and Oconee County real estate. I have a young daughter and son, and when I'm not at home with my family, I'm most likely to be found on a golf course or in a trout stream.
